Exploration works

 Since its establishment, SPC participated and supervised in preparing and completing "The geological map of Syria" in cooperation with the Soviet Union. SPC also executed gravity and magnetic surveys over the whole area of Syria. Such works assisted in directing the seismic surveys at different densities according to levels of petroleum potentialities, where such densities ranged between 0.3-2.5 K.M/sq. K.M the following results were achieved through such works:

A: drawing the subsurface geometry of the lithostratigraphic column thickness through out the country .

B: defining the structural feature of the crystalline basement.

C: Delineating the boundaries of various tectonic units, and correlating results with the geochemical,geological works  and defining  their petroleum potentials .

D: Establishing the Seismo- geological sections, which assisted in clarifying the morphology of the different subsurface structures, and under standing the geological development history of Syria.

E: Discovering a large number of leads and prospects..

F: Defining source, reservoir and seal rocks, and their distribution through the deferent tectonic units.  Also defining the migration path of oil and gas from the source toward
Rocks in most tectonic units.
